Common questions

Can someone who knows my phone passcode read my journal?

App locking uses Face ID or Touch ID by default, without automatic passcode fallback. If you explicitly allow the device passcode, someone who knows it may gain access. Someone who controls device settings can also alter enrolled biometrics. No app lock can protect against every form of access or coercion. Background previews are hidden even with locking off. Screenshots cannot be prevented.

If biometric authentication is unavailable or locked out, check device Settings or unlock the phone to reset biometrics, then return. An existing locked journal has no in-app passcode recovery bypass unless passcode access was already enabled.

Does sign-in back up my journal?

No. Your journal is encrypted on your device and excluded from backups. Export a copy from Your space → Privacy → Export my journal before changing phones or uninstalling. Exported text is unencrypted, so choose its destination carefully.

How does AI analysis work?

After you sign in and allow AI sharing, the account you submit is sent through Supabase and KIE to its model provider. The record saves immediately on your device. An AI assessment is added when ready. Open the record to inspect its reported facts, interpretation and assessed impact, or request a correction. Manual recording stays available without AI.

AI and starter credits are connected for this beta; purchases are not yet available. A labelled sample assessment is a prewritten demo, not a live AI response.

Can I turn off AI sharing?

Yes. Open Your space and revoke AI sharing under AI sharing. This prevents future submissions through the app; it does not undo processing that already happened. Unscored notes stay on your device and do not affect the index.

I can’t sign in or reset my password.

Check that you confirmed your email and check your junk folder for the confirmation or reset message. Use the password reset option in Account & AI access, then open the link on the device where you requested it. Contact support if it still does not work. Never send us your password.

How do I delete my account or journal?

Open Your space → Account & AI access → Delete cloud account to request deletion of your Supabase login. Boyfriend Tracker shares authentication with AmberCoast, so deleting that account affects access there too.

Deleting the cloud account does not erase the journal on your phone. Use the separate journal-erasure option in Your space to remove local content. Neither action removes exported files, screenshots or AI-provider copies. Individual journal entries can also be deleted. Export anything you want to keep first.

If you cannot access the app, email support@notgrey.store from your account email address for help. We may need to verify ownership before acting.

Is this a location or message tracker?

No. Boyfriend Tracker records observations you choose to enter. It does not track another person’s location, read their messages or access their accounts.

What does the index mean?

The index visualizes assessments of your reported observations over time. It is not a validated measure of a person or relationship. AI can make mistakes, and a journal only contains the moments you record. Serious safety concerns are kept out of numerical scoring.

If you feel unsafe, seek support from someone you trust or a local service. This app is not an emergency service.
